BARGIONI GASPARO (? - Florence 1836) The first news about this artist dates back to 1793, when he collaborated to the frescoes of the chapel of the Rosary in the Certosa di Calci near Pisa. Already a teacher at the Accademia di Firenze, in 1812 he exhibited a watercolour drawing of Telemachus searching for his father in Avernus. As an ornamentist and quadraturist he worked on the decoration of villas and palaces: between 1813 and 1817 in Palazzo Strozzi in Mantua in Florence, between 1817 and 1820 in the Palazzo Ducale in Lucca. Returning to Florence, from 1822 he worked in the Palazzo Borghese, then carried out his last known work: the frescoes on the vault of the spiral staircase in the Conservatorio della Santissima Annunziata, in Via della Scala.
