Jacob Maris (The Hague 1837 - Karlsbad 1899) Dutch painter.
He is considered the greatest exponent of the Hague school and exerted a strong influence on local painting.
During his stay in Paris he was influenced by the landscape painters of the Barbison School, in particular by Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot.
